Welcome to the Northeast District Council!
(19th Episcopal District of the PAW, Inc.)
The Northeast District Council was established in 1934 at Emmanuel Temple Pentecostal Church under the visionary leadership of Bishop Samuel Grimes. In 1967, Bishop Thomas J. Weeks was appointed Diocesan Bishop and served faithfully for 42 years, leaving a lasting legacy of spiritual leadership and administrative excellence.
Following Bishop Weeks’ transition to emeritus status, Bishop Michael D. Hannah, Sr. of Baltimore, Maryland was appointed Diocesan Bishop in 2009. In 2023, Bishop Hannah transitioned to glory after a brief illness, having served with distinction and dedication. Subsequently, Bishop Dr. Gwendolyn G. J. Weeks was installed and currently serves as the Diocesan Bishop of the Northeast District Council.
The Northeast District Council is affiliated with the Pentecostal Assemblies of the World, Inc. (PAW), under the leadership of Bishop Dr. Theodore L. Brooks, Sr., Presiding Bishop. Assisting him in shepherding more than 1.5 million members worldwide—including congregations across Africa, Asia, Europe, Australia, and New Zealand—are Bishop Mark C. Tolbert, First Assistant Presider, and Bishop Richard D. Howell, Jr., Second Assistant Presider.
